Heat Pump Coverage

When your heat pump sticks in the wrong mode or ices over, you call us — reversing-valve and defrost faults are covered on the Whole Home Repair plan.

Which plan covers this

Repairs to your heat pump are covered only on the Whole Home Repair plan, for future failures after the waiting period and up to the plan's limits. The HVAC Maintenance plan ($19.99/mo) covers seasonal tune-ups, not repairs.

What is heat pump coverage?

Heat pump coverage protects the outdoor unit that both heats and cools by reversing refrigerant flow, plus the indoor air handler or coil that delivers that comfort. MyHappyHome™ membership covers that dual-mode system so you are not paying separate emergency rates for winter and summer failures of the same machine. It is built for reversing-valve, defrost, and capacity problems unique to heat pumps.

When should you call for heat pump coverage?

Call when the unit stays stuck in heat or cool, ices over heavily in heating mode, or runs auxiliary strip heat almost constantly. Also call if supply air feels lukewarm in heating or outdoor coils stay frosted long after a defrost cycle should clear. Constant aux heat is a bill problem and a sign the heat pump side needs diagnosis quickly.

What usually fails?

Reversing valves stick or lose solenoid drive and leave the system in the wrong mode. Defrost boards and sensors fail so ice builds until capacity collapses. Outdoor TXVs misbehave under low temperatures. Contactors and dual-run capacitors fail like AC parts, but heat pumps also lose crankcase heaters that protect compressors in cold weather. Indoor units may keep calling for aux heat when the outdoor unit cannot prove capacity.

How MyHappyHome™ coverage helps

MyHappyHome™ sends a vetted heat-pump-capable tech under membership so dual-mode diagnosis happens once. Choose a plan on membership plans before ice season or peak cooling loads force an unplanned repair.
