Central Air Conditioner Repair

When your central air stops cooling, you call us — coil, capacitor, and refrigerant repairs are covered on the Whole Home Repair plan.

Which plan covers this

Repairs to your central air conditioner are covered only on the Whole Home Repair plan, for future failures after the waiting period and up to the plan's limits. The HVAC Maintenance plan ($19.99/mo) covers seasonal tune-ups, not repairs.

What is central air conditioner repair coverage?

Central air conditioner repair coverage protects the split or package cooling system—outdoor condenser, indoor evaporator coil, refrigerant circuit, and related electrical parts. When cooling stops, you call a vetted HVAC pro under the plan rather than gambling on the first weekend quote. It is meant for real AC failures: no cool air, ice on suction lines, or an outdoor unit that hums without compressing.

When should you call for central air conditioner repair?

Call when supply registers blow warm air, ice forms on copper lines or the coil, or the outdoor fan spins while the compressor stays silent. Also call if you smell burned insulation at the disconnect or hear a hard click every few minutes without cooling recovery. Mid-summer delay is expensive: a weak capacitor or restricted airflow can overheat a compressor that was still repairable.

What usually fails?

Start and run capacitors age out and leave the compressor unable to start. Contactors weld or pit so the outdoor unit short-cycles. Evaporator coils freeze when filters starve airflow. Refrigerant leaks at flares, coils, or service valves drop capacity. Condensate pumps and float switches lock the system out until drains clear. Those are AC-specific failure modes with clear repair paths.
